Pianta: meno imponente dell’Ippocastano bianco. Il tronco è profondamente solcato, con una corteccia liscia e verdastra che col tempo diventa squamosa.
Foglie: quando le foglie compaiono sono ricoperte da una peluria bianca, e appaiono ricadenti fino a quando non sono completamente espanse, nel mese di maggio. Sono foglie composte, formate da 5- 7 foglioline, i bordi seghettati.
Fiori: I fiori sono riuniti in grandi infiorescenze erette, di forma piramidale. La corolla è formata da 4 o 5 petali di dimensioni diseguali, il colore è un rosa arancio molto acceso.
Fioritura: a fine maggio, primi di giugno, a seconda della stagione.
